Just Splash Jesus

For many of us, just hearing the word “evangelism” causes tension to start building in our gut.

Evangelism is that thing we’re all supposed to be doing, but many of us feel unprepared, intimidated, or just plain ineffective. Add “guilt” on top of the other emotions, and it’s easy to understand why more Christians aren’t evangelizing their neighbors and coworkers.

When Cindy Landry spoke to the women at Celebration 08 in Tampa, Florida, however, she presented a different focus. We caught up with her to discuss her approach to evangelism. An evangelism consultant for the North American Mission Board (SBC), she is passionate about evangelism. But guilt isn’t part of the formula. more>

Kicking the myths about the Women’s Leadership Summits

Can you identify the myths in the statements below?

1. Developing leaders is about having the right program to run people through

2. Developing leaders is a synonym for training.

3. Developing leaders involves treating them all the same and expecting that they will all turn out the same.

5. The key to leadership is developing skills.

6. I have to be a member of a Women of Grace group to come to the Women’s Leadership Summit.

7. The Summit is just for women who want to start a women’s ministry in their church. more>

Help us pursue the dream

How would it affect our women’s ministries if we invested in girls before they become grown women? Together we can make a difference now for the women of the future. more>

Putting feet to God’s grace

In July 2009 a women’s ministry team will be traveling to Haiti. In addition to a need for individuals to help with VBS and a host of other ministries, there is a special need for trained medical personnel. Is God calling you to be  part of the team? Watch this site for updates, or contact Miriam Pacheco at hotline@embarqmail.com. more>

Care to sample some prayer bytes?

Our leadership team was inspired when Chery Boehm shared a few prayers from her journal as she coordinated the Women’s Leadership Summit last fall. We asked her to share some samples with our InfoLine readers. Chery says, “I am glad to report that our Loving Father chose to answer many of these prayers for the Summit with ‘Yes, I would be delighted to do that!’ Praying in the context of Scripture gives us confidence we are praying in God’s will when we ask for character qualities that stem from the example of Jesus, or principles that line up with God’s truth. Effectual and fervent prayer is necessary. Let’s depend on God, through Word-inspired prayer, as we try to develop a growing “sample” of leaders and followers–fully trained disciples!” more>
