Renovation of the kitchen in the All-Nations meeting room in the Missionary Residence in Winona Lake, Indiana

A very special project this year is the renovation of the kitchen in the All-Nations room at the Missionary Residence in Winona Lake, Indiana. Funds are being raised through a memorial fund honoring Doris Julien, who oversaw the operation of the Missionary Residence for many years. The All-Nations room serves as a gathering place for missionaries as well as hosting functions for a number of organizations, churches and individuals.

Doris Julien went home to be with the Lord September 5, 2009. She was the wife of Tom Julien, Executive Director emeritus for Grace Brethren International Missions. She was known throughout the Fellowship for her warm and gracious hospitality, and had great influence as a friend and mentor for younger women.

Doris and Tom served in France from 1958-1986 as a missionaries with Grace Brethren International Missions, returning home to Indiana after 28 years. She then continued serving from 1986-2000 as the supervisor for the Grace Brethren Missionary Residence, and from 2000-2003 was a Special Assignment Missionary to Paris, France.

She was a member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, Winona Lake, Indiana, a homemaker, and also helped to coordinate the European Ministry Team.

Doris was the mother of Becky Schwan, who serves with her husband David as a missionary in England; Jacqueline Schram, a professor at Grace College; and Terry Julien, an artist and graphic designer. Doris and Tom also have five grandchildren.
