Grace Graduate Counseling Team –
Nicaragua – March 2014
Brienne is from Sandusky, Ohio. She earned her undergrad degree from Grace College and recently joined Christ’s Covenant Church in Winona Lake, IN. She is currently pursuing a summer internship in Ireland through Encompass World Partners. Her future plans include pursuing opportunities overseas to teach and develop Christian counselors.
Brienne shares, “My relationship with the Lord began in high school where He drew me to Himself in the midst of immense loneliness. From that point on my heart was regenerated. I have continued to learn more about who God is, how I am a sinner in need of grace daily. God has continued to reveal the idols of my heart such as financial stability, competence, popularity, and success. I have seen His presence in my life through fruits such as patience and kindness, whereas I used to be a judgmental and mean young woman. He has opened my eyes to His purposes for me, which are to love Him and to love people. I have been able to love Him and others through using my gifts of teaching, counseling, and showing hospitality.”
Destiny Rescue/GO Grace Team –
Thailand – May 2014
Grace is from Terre Haute, Indiana. She is a junior at Grace College and attends Mission Point church while in college. She will serve as a student leader on this team. Her desire is to personally be a part of the fight to end human trafficking. Grace feels that the Lord is calling her into missions and she wants to use her talents in graphic design and public relations to serve with a mission such as Destiny Rescue.
Grace shares, “I grew up in a strong Christian home. I was always a “good kid.” Rather than seeking Christ genuinely, I played the appearance game. I tried to live to a standard of perfection, failed, and grew a hard and bitter heart. When I came to Grace last year, the theme was Freedom. This idea of living a life that embraced transparency and vulnerability was so appealing. A life that says, ‘Your power is made perfect in my weakness’. A spiritual hunger was ignited like I never knew before. Currently, I see God working actively in ways I never thought possible. I have found joy. I have also truly come to see that I was made to give Him glory. I also clearly feel God calling me to missions. I cannot just receive grace and blessing, but also must give them away. My current relationship with Christ involves seeking after him and his will for my life whatever that may mean.”
