Our leadership team was inspired when Chery Boehm shared a few prayers from her journal as she coordinated the Women’s Leadership Summit last fall. We asked her to share some samples with our InfoLine readers. Chery says, “I am glad to report that our Loving Father chose to answer many of these prayers for the Summit with ‘Yes, I would be delighted to do that!’ Praying in the context of Scripture gives us confidence we are praying in God’s will when we ask for character qualities that stem from the example of Jesus, or principles that line up with God’s truth. Effectual and fervent prayer is necessary. Let’s depend on God, through Word-inspired prayer, as we try to develop a growing “sample” of leaders and followers–fully trained disciples!”
“How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live!” Hebrews 12:9b
“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:14
Father, the responsibilities I carry require me to be walking vitally in Your Spirit. Enable me to live in peace. Prepare my heart and my spirit for holiness so others can see You.
“All spoke well of Him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from His lips.” Luke 4:22
Lord, I want to represent You well in the ministry opportunities ahead of me. Allow my words to be an encouragement and to be full of grace through Your indwelling Spirit.
“Live a life of love with not even a hint of sin among you.” Ephesians 5:3
Indwelling Spirit, guard my heart, mind and mouth. Transform me to imitate Your love and holiness. Keep me from entertaining even a hint of sin.
“Why do you stare at us as if by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? . . . It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through Him that has completely healed him.” Acts 3:12-16
Lord, You have given me a daunting mission – impossible apart from Your Power. Guide me in clarity. Cause me to listen, to hear correctly, to press on in obedience. With my faith placed in Jesus, I want to fulfill Your calling for my life in Your Power!
“Lord, how many times should I forgive someone who sins against me?” Matthew 18:21
Thank You, Lord, for giving me a new heart and not requiring a certain moral behavior before I’d be accepted. Cause me to allow forgiveness to flow freely. Keep me from being touchy. Fill me with Your Spirit so Your influence is evident.
“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.” Romans 12:11
Help me, Lord, to not grow weary of the work needed to remain engaged. Slipping back into comfort is easy. You have called me to press for inroads. Give me strength.
For those you lead:
Faith and love:
“We have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all his people.” Colossians 1:3
Father, I desire to see You move in the hearts of our women that they would be known for their faith, love, generosity, humility, and sacrifice. I trust You to accomplish this, in a way that only You can, as evidence of Your Hand and Presence.
“I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all the nations you will be my treasured possession.” Exodus 19:4,5
As You choose and gather women for this event, prepare their hearts and minds to receive wisdom and understanding from You. Bring them to Yourself as a treasured possession—to listen, obey, love and serve.
“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.” I Corinthians 12:7
Thank You for the spiritual gifts You have given. Help us to use them for the common good of Your Body. Help us encourage others in the use of their variety of gifts and enhance Unity among believers.
“How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:15
Proclaim, hear, believe–may our ladies be inspired to have and use their beautiful feet!”
“For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility.” Ephesians 2:14
The gospel, the cross alone, has the power to destroy divisions and hostilities. Lead women to surrender pride, condescension, bitterness and resentment and through divine grace lean into dependence on You, Lord.
In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5:18
God, thank you for the opportunities you give to serve others. We are grateful for women who want to be trained, empowered and released into this needy world—each in the way You have beautifully designed for them. We’re even thankful for the trials You bring to fashion us to be more like You.
